This client used Ecosense to get a snapshot of their levels and called us right away. They wanted to have the basement protection with a radon mitigation system since she is looking to sell the house soon. The installation was great and client was really happy!

Great company that stands by their word....

Sioux City falls within EPA's Zone 1 which is the "Highest Potential Zone" for radon risk. Because the zones reflect predicted average levels, the EPA recommends that ALL homes be tested, regardless of zone. (

Job Stories From Sioux City, IA
Non-smoker with COPD

My daughter is a nurse, I developed a cough in Fall 2019. She stated she would like me to go through test to make sure it was not something more serious. I was diagnosed with COPD and never smoked a day in my life. My doctor mentioned Radon in my home and I was shocked. After doing a charcoal test in my home, I received my levels back at 33 and was in complete shock. I looked up companies and found National Radon Defense Midwest and gave them a call. They were quick to get someone out given the levels I had in my home. Tony was so nice and professional. He explained everything in detail and made sure I understand what services they offered. I found to have high humidty in my home as well. The crew came out in May and installed air quality products in my home including a radon mitigation system. They walked me through everything when they were finished and showed me how everything worked. I already feel better air quality. The system is quiet and hardly noticable. I checked by breathe EZ filter after 3 weeks and could not believe the dirt and dust that it had collected. If you want a company that truly knows about air quality and how to help, National Radon Defense Midwest is the company to call. Thank you again for all your help!

Great experience with the Thrasher transfer

My wife and I originally purchased our radon mitigation system through Thrasher Basements. We received notification that National Radon Defense Midwest was taking over we were hesitant. We had an issue with our fan, making an odd noise. I called and the staff was super friendly. They were able to transfer my warranty by just giving my name and address. They got a crew scheduled out quickly. The crew arrived on time, was very patient, explained the process and exchanged my fan for me. The office followed up after that to make sure we were happy, and taken care of. Best part, is it did not cost us a thing because of the awesome 10 year warranty! We are VERY happy with National Radon Defense Midwest.

Professional and done right

I had read about the long term effects of radon in my home. After testing and having high levels I decided to call National Radon Defense Midwest for help. From the first phone call, to the follow up after my project was completed, I was highly impressed. Andrew and his crew were efficent and honest. They were very friendly and easy to get along with. They cleaned up well and explained the entire process from start to finish. I was happy with the appearance of the system, and also relieved to know it worked and got my levels down. Thank you to National Radon Defense Midwest for your hard and honest work.

Troubling cough prompts radon test

When Gloree's daughter heard her cough, she knew something was going on. As a nurse, Gloree's daughter immediately recommended that her mother have her home tested and then, her lungs.

The tests revealed an unusually high radon level in Gloree's home and COPD in the Sioux City homeowner's lungs. According to the Mayo Clinic, COPD, or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, is caused by long-term exposure to irritating gases, such as radon, and airborne particles. Developing COPD can increase one's chance of developing heart disease, lung cancer, and other related conditions.

Radon mitigation can't undo the damage of previous exposure, but it can decrease current exposure and consequently decrease homeowner's chances of developing lung complications like COPD. We installed a radon mitigation system in Gloree's home and a Breathe EZ air filter, which filters out other harmful gases and airborne particles—such as viruses and bacteria, so Gloree can, well, breathe easier.
