Surge in Consumer Demand for UVC Light Technology

National Radon Defense Midwest is experiencing a surge of interest due to the recent Covid-19 pandemic. "We're experiencing a surge of interest in our indoor air quality product line, especially our UVC lights," said Curt Drew, owner of NRD Midwest. Viruses and Bacteria that are common air pollutants in homes and buildings can be treated with NRD Midwest's UVC Light technology and high-end air cleaners.

Omaha, NE – National Radon Defense Midwest, the local leader in radon and indoor air quality services, is experiencing a surge of interest due to the recent Covid-19 pandemic. “We’re experiencing a surge of interest in our indoor air quality product line, especially our UVC lights,” said Curt Drew, owner of NRD Midwest. “As we know, people are spending a lot more time at home now. We are all wanting to ensure the air we are breathing is safe.”

Viruses and Bacteria that are common air pollutants in homes and buildings can be treated with NRD Midwest’s UVC Light technology and high-end air cleaners.  “We have a comprehensive line of indoor air quality products that many of our customers install along with their radon mitigation systems. Recently due to this new health environment, even more of our customers are investing in this technology.” UV light works as a disinfectant because it can stop cells from reproducing. No microorganisms have shown immunity to UV exposure at certain levels, according to the International Ultraviolet Association.

The University of Nebraska Medical Center is using the same UVC Light technology to clean masks used by health care providers.  Here’s a link to an article about that project: https://www.unmc.edu/news.cfm?match=25284

FROM THE UNMC ARTICLE:

The PPE is hung on wires stretching the length of the room and then decontaminated when the lights are powered on. The items are then removed and returned to the original owners for reuse.

"The shortage has forced us to be innovative," said Dr. Lowe. "While these items weren’t meant to be used more than once, this is a 100% safe way to extend their useful life. Other major hospital systems in the U.S. have also started to implement this method for the same reason we are."

Radon reduction systems is the primary service for NRD Midwest.  Radon is the #1 cause of lung cancer for non-smokers. Roughly 50% of the homes in our area have elevated levels. Radon is responsible for about 21,000 lung cancer deaths every year. A study by the EPA shows that people living in Nebraska and Iowa are at high risk when it comes to radon exposure.
