Reducing negative health impact from poor indoor air quality
Evelyn first suspected something wasn't right with the air in her house when she realized how often she felt sick while at home. Concerned about her health, the Sidney homeowner contacted us about getting her home tested for radon. Sure enough, the radon level was high.
We installed a two-suction point system with exterior aesthetics to reduce Evelyn's radon level without reducing the value of her home. To help ensure that the homeowner stays healthy, we also installed a Breathe EZ air cleaner for better all-around indoor air quality and made sure Evelyn felt comfortable changing her Breathe EZ filter.
It's all too easy to forget about your air quality until you feel the negative impacts. Stories like Evelyn's remind us all that the air in our homes directly affects our health. Taking steps toward cleaner air like installing radon mitigation and indoor air quality controls help keep everyone in the house safe and healthy.

Improving Indoor Air Quality with a Crawl Space Radon Mitigation System
This home required a two-point radon mitigation system designed to reach both the basement and crawl space areas. With about three feet of headroom, access was the main challenge, but the homeowner’s family cleared the space beforehand to make installation smoother. One extraction point will be cored through the basement slab, with a second added in the crawl space beneath the bedrooms to help reduce humidity. The homeowner also chose an Aspen Air Purifier to further improve indoor air quality, showing a strong commitment to creating a healthier home environment.
A Healthy Home, A Happy Family
For this lovely family, radon mitigation was one of their keys to a healthier life. After installation, they noticed an immediate improvement in their well-being, with fewer respiratory issues and a newfound sense of security in their radon-free home. They had their first radon mitigation system with us last year and wanted to install another one since they had built an extension for their home.
Radon Mitigation and Crawlspace Sealing Transform an Older Home's Air Quality and Comfort
Radon Mitigation and Crawlspace Sealing Transform an Older Home’s Air Quality and Comfort
After struggling for months with a nagging cough, a homeowner decided to investigate the air quality in her older home. Testing revealed elevated radon levels, especially near her bedroom. With a small basement, two deep crawlspaces, and cold floors, a comprehensive plan was set in motion. A three-point mitigation system was installed — two extraction points in the crawlspaces and one through the concrete slab. The slab-on-grade section, already vented, didn’t require additional work. Crawlspaces were sealed and insulated, addressing both radon and her chilly floors. Minor debris was removed with the help of dumpsters. Beyond radon reduction, cleaning the home’s ductwork brought noticeable improvements. Today, her home feels warmer, healthier, and finally provides the peace of mind she’d been hoping for.

A New Home, an Unexpected Risk as per Realtor

Our team successfully reduced the radon to safe, breathable levels. Now, this homeowner enjoys their new space with peace of mind, knowing their family is safe from this invisible, cancer-causing gas. Their experience is a reminder that every home should be tested for radon.
Radon Mitigation - Hinton, IA
This is an interesting project as the layout of the home was a reno (renovation). There is a thin utility strip across the center of the basement. Half is finished and the rest is crawlspace. If you go on the left side of the utility strip, the sump pit needs to be crawled to in order to seal it up. Not a super comfortable thing to have to do but is about 8-10 feet crawl. From the outside of the home, the exit hole will need to be on the shorted park of the home toward the porch. Mainly wanted protection from exposure why they're getting a radon mitigation system. Inside this relates to needing to exit somewhere in the crawl space, some concerns still needed a fix. We offered the homeowner a crawlspace encapsulation and will have this considered in the future!
Expecting Husband and Wife Wants Double Protection
Met with the homeowner who manages a local bank and grew up in the area (Malvern, IA). He and his wife are expecting their first child and want to make the home safer. They had their home tested for radon and returned with levels of 10. Pretty worried, the team drafted their radon mitigation system. It starts with the sump pit with interior drain tile that is boxed in with wood. The husband will remove the wood box prior to installation. Route up and through drywall, core through block wall to exit home. Everything paid off after the installation. They were happy with how it turned out.
Home Aesthetic is Important
The homeowners made a radon test and returned with levels of 11. The wife was pretty worried about radon and how the system would 'not blend in' with the aesthetic of their home. They called and we explained their options. They were very open and flexible on how we could route the system as they only requested a passive one. They just bought the house this year 2024, and the roof was already penetrated for this intent.
