Starting A New Chapter, Protected!
Radon Mitigation in George, Iowa
Solomon and his wife are a young couple that bought the house this past year. It was an old house with brick foundation and radon levels of 8.5. The installation will start with a sub slab extraction point next to plumbing stack on back wall, route out side of house and core through wall, route up. They wanted everything to be prepared before they move on to their next chapter in life.
Red Brick Ranch Radon Fix: Custom System for Stubborn Levels in a Geothermal Home
After putting off mitigation for some time, this homeowner in a brick walk-out ranch was ready to take action. With radon levels at 14 pCi/L, it was clear that a more effective and permanent solution was needed. There was no sump pit, only exterior drain tile and pea gravel beneath the slab, plus a hidden passive pipe that proved unreliable. To deliver reliable radon abatement, we designed a 2-point sub-slab extraction system along the north wall, spaced 15 feet apart (disregarding the outdated job drawing). The system will exit through the block wall and brick, with a fan and muffler installed on the side of the home, carefully routed around the soffit for a clean finish.
They currently operate an ERV system with geothermal HVAC, which we encouraged them to run more consistently. A custom Breathe EZ (29x25) unit with L brackets is part of the plan, replacing the awkward filter stack they currently use (16x25x2 + 14x25x2). Sealed 25 feet of visible slab cracks near the HVAC system and finish with duct cleaning and standard fogging; creating cleaner air and real radon reduction.
Warranty gives homeowners clean air, peace of mind
Jeff and his wife built their dream home in 2007 and intended to stay in it forever. When they learned about radon prevalence in Iowa, the couple worried about their general health and safety in the home but they were especially concerned about the basement guestrooms where their children and grandchildren stay while visiting.
Jeff did a fair share of research on radon and mitigation companies, searching for a financially reasonable, trustworthy company backed by a real warranty. After talking to our team at National Radon Defense Midwest, he felt confident that we were the business he was looking for.
We installed a one-suction point system that's backed by our warranty and flows with the rest of the couple's dream home so they, and their family, can stay in it safely for as long as possible.

Radon Mitigation in Elk Horn, Iowa
This client was concerned about her home as she didn't know how to do the radon test herself. She called us and asked for a free estimate. The team offered her a radon testing assistance and was relieved! The radon levels turned out to be 9.4 pCi/L which is really high. The home had a partially finished basement. The installation was a sub slab extraction point in the HVAC room along side the wall adjacent to the shelves. The system will exit the home through rim joist and route up and around soffit. Installation was a success!
Commercial Radon Mitigation - Atlantic, IA
This school's gym radon tested around 3 times for the owner to convince himself that it really needs to have a mitigation system. There's a system on the main school building and a second one that looks like it goes into the ground outside the storm shelter. The team decided to place the fan on the backside of the shelter and have it elevated closer to the roof. In that way it reaches the outlet for power. This was a challenge as it took a long to figure out how to arrange the structure of the system without adjusting any other infrastructure piping. Nevertheless, the installation was a success! Team never felt better!
