Radon Mitigation and Crawlspace Sealing Transform an Older Home’s Air Quality and Comfort

After struggling for months with a nagging cough, a homeowner decided to investigate the air quality in her older home. Testing revealed elevated radon levels, especially near her bedroom. With a small basement, two deep crawlspaces, and cold floors, a comprehensive plan was set in motion. A three-point mitigation system was installed — two extraction points in the crawlspaces and one through the concrete slab. The slab-on-grade section, already vented, didn’t require additional work. Crawlspaces were sealed and insulated, addressing both radon and her chilly floors. Minor debris was removed with the help of dumpsters.
